This course examines the skills and knowledge required for teaching an engaging, interactive, and effective Social Studies curriculum in elementary education. This course taught me how to plan units of study and instruction to inspire learning and critical thinking.
ENGL 3353 - North American Indigenous Literature
Fall 2021
This course critically engaged the literary works of Indigenous peoples through various genres framed by cultural, historical, social, theoretical, and political contexts. With examples of the role of women, humour, language, stereotyping, and racism this course offers an important perspective from a vulnerable population.

EDUC 3013 -Â CURRICULUM INSTRUCTION IN TEACHING ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS
This course explores the knowledge and skills required to implement programs of studies in teaching English Language Arts in elementary schools.This class shared many instructional ideas from literacy development, guided reading and guided writing tools for the classroom. We were assigned to read books levelled form Kindergarten to grade 6, write short lessons which we taught to a colleague.

EDUC 3106 -CURRICULUM INSTRUCTION IN TEACHING SCIENCE:
This course exposed me to science experiments as well as tools such as Provocation and Question focus strategies for teaching students to ask questions. We conducted experiments and reflected on our experiences. We delved into teaching science and making it as hands-on as possible.

EDUC 3108 - CURRICULUM INSTRUCTION IN TEACHING MATHEMATICS
During this course, I discovered and used many different manipulatives and learned the Essential Six for teaching mathematics. This course explores the knowledge and skills required to implement programs of studies in teaching Mathematics in elementary schools.

EDUC 310 - PRACTICUM I
This practicum experience involves teaching 50% of mentor teacher's course load. This includes designing and implementing lesson plans, supervising, assessing and observing teaching practices. During this practicum I taught 100% of half-day Kindergarten in Mrs. Pollards class at Herald School and assisted in literacy intervention during the afternoons.

This course taught me about the foundations of education and curriculum as well as the practical applications of both. My practicum experience allowed me the opportunity to practice skills I have learned in an environment that provided me support and feedback.
EDTS 321 -Education Psychology for Teaching - MHC
This course taught me more about developmental psychology and its applications in the classroom. Assignments challenged to me think and problem solve behaviour challenges like a teacher.
GNED 210 - Scientific & mathematical literacy for the modern world - MHC
This course challenged me to think mathematically and develop reasoning skills. We explored both math and science concepts and I learned to challenge my abilities and perception of my own success.
GNED 221- Aesthetic Experience and Ideas - MHC
This course offered me the opportunity to explore literature and art as well as its cultural influence. My writing skills and abstract thinking skills were challenged in this interesting course.
EDTS 232 - Professional Dimentions of Teaching I - MHC
This course allowed me to explore what its like to be a teacher. Assignments challenged my ability to think introspectively and write expressively. My practicum expereince inspired me and allowed me first opportunity to teach a middle school class.
